What makes this outbreak particularly concerning is its impact on vulnerable communities already grappling with armed violence, displacement, and weak health services in the eastern provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu.
One of the key challenges is the rising number of cases and the limited treatment capacity. Dieudonne Mwamba Kazadi, head of the DRC National Institute of Public Health (INSP), emphasizes the urgency of expanding treatment facilities and positioning new Ebola treatment centers. He highlights the need for community engagement, a strategy that is crucial for successful containment.
